Goducate has chosen the Philippines to be its main source of community
development workers for Goducate's works in other Asian countries. The
Philippines is also the main country where Goducate tests out its
projects before transplanting these projects to other countries.

This is because the Philippines has an educated, English-speaking
workforce who is willing to work in other countries.

The freedom in the Philippines is also conducive to conducting social
development experiments to create Goducate projects for the poor.

Our work in the Philippines is located in 2 locations - Laguna and Iloilo.

Laguna is the province just south of Manila and is an hour's ride from
the airport.
In the town of Bay, Laguna, Goducate has a small Model Farm.
In this farm, our workers and trainees learn about sustainable
backyard farming - to help poor families produce their own food in
their backyards.
As our farm is near many well-known agricultural research centers, new
technologies are tried, such as using earthworms to produce organic
fertilizer from decaying vegetation, using disused plastic containers
to plant vegetables, using discarded styrofoam fruit boxes for
hydroponic vegetables.
Neighboring communities are adopted to test out the feasibility of
these projects under real-life conditions.

Another interesting community development project that has been
developed in Laguna is a youth music program.
The youth in a village are first taught to use a simple musical
instrument, such as a recorder. When a youth is able to play a tune,
he gets a sense of achievement. He is then encouraged to learn a more
difficult instrument.
In the process of learning to play a musical instrument, many of the
youth regain their lost self-esteem, many learn discipline and
endurance. Those who join the band or orchestra, learn team-work.
Others, who have mastered an instrument and who are assigned to teach
others, learn responsibility. Without realizing it, the youth on this
program are developing useful life-skills that will stand them in good
stead in the years ahead.
Some of those who are musically talented are able to get scholarships
to school or college through music scholarships. Others earn some
money by playing at functions. While others earn money teaching music.
But most importantly, most of the participants in this program, regain
their self-esteem and learn useful life-skills that will help them to
help themselves.

Iloilo, is the province in the middle of the Philippines. It is an
hour's flight from Manila.
Goducate's main training center is situated 40 minutes from the city of Iloilo.
Goducate Training Center is 11 hectares in size and is capable of
training over a hundred community development trainees per batch.
These trainees will be the core of Goducate's workers in China,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, India and Philippines.
There are rice-fields, vegetable plots, hydroponics,
container-gardens, fruit trees, poultry, fish, sheep, etc for our
trainees to get first-hand experience in producing food. This will
enable them to help needy Asians produce their own food for

There are also class-rooms where our trainees will learn
cross-cultural skills, foreign language, livelihood projects, teaching
English skills, computer skills, etc.

As Goducate Training Center hopes to be self-supporting, the premises
will also be rented out to corporations for their corporate functions
and retreats to earn revenue to sustain its operations. This is in
keeping with Goducate's philosophy of teaching others to help

After they graduate from Goducate Training Center, our graduates will
be sent to Goducate projects in Asia to help needy Asians help
