Voice of The cemetery keeper
We need recorded text of The cemetery keeper! Here is a short description of this character:

The cemetery keeper is a humped old man in a dark cloak with the hard working hands and sly screwed-up eyes. He is a mystic character with the black humor and it seems that he knows about everything what is happening on the cemetery but he is not in a hurry to reveal the secrets which he found out during his long life. He makes a joke in reply for direct questions. Along the game he gives hints to the detective and directs the motion of the investigation by the advices and tells the “history”.

Given his age, and profession, he should sound aloof, distant, and a bit forgetful – a doddering old man who knows more than he lets on, whether from age or by choice. Suggested voice age late 60s/early 70s.

It is a pleasure to meet you, Monsieur Dupin. I’ve worked this cemetery my whole life, so I’ve seen many a strange thing in my time. Could you perhaps be a bit more specific?

Unless you have family buried here, I’d ask that you come back tomorrow. It is too late for visits right now, and I’ve a good deal of work that needs doing. Now, should you bring me some water so that I could wash the windows of the hut, then perhaps we could make an arrangement…

Welcome back, Detective. I hope you’ve brought some water for me…

Have you any water to share? If not, then I’m afraid I cannot help you.

Thank you my friends. You’ve scratched my back, so now I will scratch yours and open the cemetery gates. May I ask why you wish to search the grounds?
Ah, I see. I see. I seem to recall a young woman being buried not too long ago. The gravediggers told me that her husband was very generous, and paid them extra to complete the burial quickly. I assume he was overwhelmed with grief, and wanted to put it all behind him quickly.

Let’s see… Raul… Renee was it? No. Renelle! Yes, it was Renelle. I believe his is also a member of the city council. Now that I think on it, this wasn’t the first time he was here. Monsieur Fore’s previous wife passed away a few years ago, who was also buried in haste.

Oh… well… you see, all manner of strange things happen in a cemetery. Much of what I’ve seen and heard over the years can hardly be explained.

I think you could find such a thing at the shop back the way you came, towards the town gate. You can’t miss the shop, as there is a large angel statue right nearby.

Heavens! How could such a thing be true? I remember Madam Fore’s funeral some years ago. I always thought it strange that a man of means like Monsieur Fore would have such a quiet and discreet funeral, much like the most recent one for Victorine.

[Knocking] Who’s there? Just a moment, please. These legs don’t move like they used to.

Oh, detectives! It’s you. How goes the investigation?

Hmm… yes… this is very interesting. Keys such as these are normally used to open crypts in the old section of the cemetery. But as far as I know, no one has been buried there for some time. It is a place where the dead do not tolerate the living…

Where did you get this, detectives? Normally, only the relatives of the deceased are in possession of such keys. I didn’t expect to such a key again.

[Without eagerness] The main entrance to the old part of the cemetery was walled over years ago, but there is a way in. There is a small gate in the wall behind the well. It has become overgrown by plants over the years. Find it, and you’ll have your way in.

Good luck to you both. [Sarcastically] And do keep out of the darker recesses of the cemetery. One never knows what lurks where our eyes cannot see.
