Project Main Details
We are looking for a character voice to act as “Dr. Bellington” in our audio skit “Responsus”(tentative title at this point). Our company ***************, publishes a series of educational audio montage/adventures. The overall audio adventure will be about 40 minutes but "Bellington's part is one of the small character in this adventure, part of a humour interlude. The skits are designed to kick-start discussion in classrooms, or plain family entertainment. Each one tackles character building from a different perspective. We will be producing more episode and this character could possibly re-appear in future production.
There will be supporting casts of adults (teachers, parents etc...) and other kids coming in and out. The settings is urban, the kids will have to deal with modern urban issues. The old part of a school is the "mysterious place" which will allow us to bring some mild fantasy to the stories. The stories takes place in the present. I have provided a sample of the script.
The part of Dr. Bellington is only 9 or 10 lines, I suspect under a minute or 2 of overall recording. Two teenage students are exploring an old college when they come into a laboratory. Your character "Dr. Belington" is a middle to senior age male adult, must sound as such. Your voice will be auditioned by several teenagers and kids to see if it the right mad scientist. Dr. Bellington is in a cage full of bees trying to find out the effect of bees on human behavior. In the conversation with the students, he acts like an air-head and lets the bees out of the cage. The students take off. I do not want this scientist to sound completely demented or "dark" (sadistic laughter). However the mad-scientist stills needs to be a "cartoonish" or "goofy" type of voice. Don't be shy to let your talent flow as your portray him.
The method of payment will be discussed once the candidate has been chosen.Usually Voice-talent artist have provided us with two or three takes of each lines. By Bidding on this bid the voice-talent artist will sign waiver giving publisher ownership of the completed work, including ad-lib you might ad to the original script. If you do not want to sign waiver, do not apply for this bid. Delivery method can be FTP. We want the recording in full Wave (Not MP3)-usually 16 bit 44.1 KHz. We do the post-production work. The recording must be free of any background noise, basically of studio quality.
The product will be release on a CD for sales to mainly parents, educators/school units. In the coming year, the skit will be available through Web Download as well.
Also, there is no time constraint on your voice-talent work. These skits are not generally strictly limited by any time. Enjoy the free-flow and unleash your talent. Some artist do provide us with a supplementary version where you can Ad-lib, and this is welcome. However, again you are signing the waiver releasing any rights to this part of the production. Please provide for a reasonable amount of re-take if need be in the future.
We have provided enough information for the artist(s) to make an adequate and informative proposal. Sampler voices are a must. We want to thank all of the artists in advance for their time and efforts.
These recordings are for educational purpose and it is not expected to have "Top 40 distribution, although it is shaped as a radio show, there are no plans at this point for radio distribution. Therefore budget is limited. 2010-01-14 08:54:50 GMT 2010-01-18 16:00:00 (GMT -06:00) Saskatchewan Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. Not French. My Grandma taught me some French. This is more like an older language.
At least the doors here have English markings. “Science Lab.” There. This one is open. Let’s see if we can get in and find someone who knows where Mr. Carpenter is.
(sound: door opens)
Wow look at this! There’s a giant cage full of bees over there!
Yeah, and someone’s in the cage!
He is coming over to the doorway.
Well Hello there. I’m Doctor Bellington. Yeah, I think Bellington is my name…
I’m Sebastian, and this is my friend, Noranda.
Pleased to meet you. Sorry about the buzzing noise.
Doctor Bellington, if you don’t mind me asking, what are you doing in this cage full of bees?
I’m studying the effect of bees on human behaviour!
And why are you doing that?
Why? ....hum...That’s a good question… Hmmmm... I can’t remember why right now.
We are looking for Mr. Carpenter’s office... the English teacher?
Mr. Carpenter? Oh, he’s a good fellow… I quite like him. His office is not in here, but he sometimes can be found in the study across the hallway.
Doctor Bellington, before we go… um… I’m just curious... what has your study concluded?
Mostly, that after 20 minutes in this cage any normal human being has gone completely mad!
How long have you been in the cage?
Uh, about two hours!
How come the bees don’t come through the doorway?
Oh, I built a special magnetic field. See this button over here? If I push it like that…
(sound: buzzing-bees noise increases)
Dr. Bellington, the bees are coming out.
Oh no! What have I done? You kids better get out of here. I got to gather my babies back in here. Get out and close the door. Quick!
Noranda, let’s get out of here.
I agree. Run!
