Very Cool Virtual Reality Project 
Voice Over Needed - Female

This is a voice over for a Virtual Reality experience that will be shown at a conference in Rio DeJaneiro.

We are looking for an engineer in her 30s. She’s a hardworking straight-shooter who’s passionate about science, technology and deep sea drilling and happy to share her accumulated knowledge with others.

Think of this as an Epcot type experience, but instead of it feeling authoritative, the tone should feel more folksy,
like you're sharing your knowledge with friends and neighbors.

This is a one time buyout fee.

Welcome aboard Explorer One! Today we’ll be taking you down to an extreme depth to get an up-close look at our next generation oil and gas recovery technologies.
The ride down should be nice and smooth.

Descent begins in three ... two ... one ... release.

Explorer One submersible begins its descent into the sea.

And we’re off, Explorer One. On the way down, let me catch you up to speed on the operation.

4 miles below, about the same length as 16 Empire State Buildings, beneath water, rock and salt, scientists discovered a vast oil field that may contain a significant portion of the world's oil reserves. It's known as the pre-salt layer, and It’s incredibly challenging to reach. We're combining the full range of our technological experience across GE to tap into this new frontier of energy.

Look up at your gauge Explorer One, near freezing temperatures and thats 288 tons of pressure per square foot pushing on your submarine’s window!

Explorer One lands on the sea floor. Outside, the viewer sees the entire expanse of the current operation. An ROV is busy connecting subsea components. The Viewer has a moment to take it in.

Oh good, I was hoping you’d get to see an ROV in action. It’s utilizing a FLX360 flying lead system to connect different components of subsea hardware.

In this case a next-gen subsea tree, which monitor and control the flow of the oil wells, is being connected up to the manifold on your left, which directs the oil & gas through a pipeline, right up to the floating platform above.

Visual indicators label the tree and the manifold as she talks about them.

We’re developing new technology solutions, where everything we’re currently doing above sea level, moves right to the sea floor, and every part of the process can be monitored and operated remotely. The operations crew can work safely on shore, close to home.

Outside the window we see additional systems appear showing what it would be like in the future having all the topside components on the sea floor. It’s a bustling robotic city in full action with ROV’s motoring around, some doing maintenance, others connecting new equipment.


The sub monitor beeps and indicates its time to ascend.

Time to head up.

Imagine that all these machines have to operate flawlessly in the deep sea for 30+ years. This requires new materials, lighter machines and advanced automated processes.

There are many challenges in taking today’s subsea productions into the future. Luckily, our experience in aviation, designing for the space station and even interstellar space has helped shape the work we’re doing down here.

We have the benefit of taking break-throughs in one business and applying it to others.
