Theft of Dragons Audiobook

Theft of Dragons is the first book in my new adult fantasy series called Princes of Naverstrom, which will be published this month in print and digital format. I am looking forward to bringing the new series to audio format. I will be releasing additional books in the future so there is a good possibility of additional work for the narrator.

I've attached the new book cover and map of the world, along with the script.

Regards, John

Male voice of Tael (pronounced TIE'EL) - action scene where Tael is killing two sorcerers and helping a wizard.

Master Loral was losing the battle against the two, his face hard and pale as he struggled. Tael knew it was a foolish thing to try and help the wizard; it wasn’t his fight and he had no reason to risk his life for nothing. But the way out of the city was blocked and he would be exposed and at risk of discovery if the wizard lost.

Hakkadians leave no witnesses alive, his grandfather had said. Likely they would torch the entire city and spread rumors of a horde of dwarves rampaging the north. Tael realized that he had no choice but to act, and to act quickly against the sorcerers. Behind the two he circled, keeping his steps silent and timed to the rhythm of their magical attacks. When he was positioned directly behind the pair, sword raised and ready, he pulled the shadows around his figure to erase himself from the sorcerer’s view, a spell his grandfather had taught him. The words of his father echoed in his mind. Feel the sword, feel the weight of magic, let it summon death as your ally. He latched ahold of the familiar sensation, and with the rush of blood pumping through his veins he charged at an unsuspecting sorcerer.

The older Hakkadian on the left stood for a few seconds after Tael’s clean slice along the neck, while blood jettisoned from the sorcerer’s headless torso. His partner whipped around, but the fury and shock only remained in his eyes for a second until he was vaporized by a lightning strike from the wizard’s hand. Tael stared at the empty spot where the man once stood, where now only a fine layer of ash covered the ground.

“Stab the eyes out!” yelled the wizard.

Tael scanned around, uncertain of whom the wizard spoke of, and spotted the first sorcerer’s head on the ground, his eyes gazing intently at him. When Master Loral ran over, the eyes glanced at the wizard, and the mouth of the head opened wide in a rictus smile, releasing a green smoke into the air.

“No!” The wizard waved his tome and tried to clear the smoke but he soon gave up and backed away as it formed into a swirling, shimmering portal. Hope drained from the wizard’s eyes. “Run…flee the city and don’t turn back. The Ghouls of Naverstrom will come and consume every living thing. Run!”

Festering, boil-covered hands burst through and grabbed both sides of the portal. Tael knew he was too late."

Female voice of Sebine (pronounced SEH-BEEN) - scene where she is flirting after a dance with Prince Jaraz from a far away kingdom. She encounters the King who is furious at seeing Princess Sebine and the Prince together.

Prince Jaraz cleared his throat and released a sigh. “I’ve heard rumors of such parties in my Kingdom as well, fortunately I’ve no taste for such extravagances. Though I’m certain Marquis Kalan indulges regularly as his appetite for lust is never satiated.”

“And you’ve no such lust, my prince?” She winked at him and ran ahead to stairs that led up to the state rooms.

Blood pumped wildly through her veins as she climbed the stairs, and she could hear the Prince’s footsteps and voice trailing behind her. “Of course I lust as other men! I just don’t need to flout it to prying eyes. My lust is all for you.”

“Prove it!” she shouted, and glanced back at the Prince’s now sobered face. What was wrong? A cold chill sank into her shoulders as she turned to see the King’s head poking out from a doorway, his eyes hateful and face clenched and shaking in fury. The Prince backed away—fearful—and raised hands defensively as the King barked orders to his Vizathian Knights. Two burly steel-clad knights chased after the Prince and failed to stop despite Sebine’s pleas.

“He has done nothing wrong!” she shouted. “By our treaty with the Malathians we must not hurt him. He is Prince Jaraz…oh, Father stop them, talk to Ambassador Droman, he knows him!”

“Get out of my way, you filthy slut.” King Braxion shoved her aside and strode down the hallway after the Prince, with streams of soldiers pouring in behind him. “Give me your sword, fool!” He wrenched a sword from a stunned soldier, and raced down the stairs.

Sebine went to chase after them but two guards blocked her way. Rage possessed her heart at the soldier’s obstinate expression. How did they dare stop her? She ordered them to move, but they ignored her command. The spell—to boil the blood of men—how did their fingers move, what did they chant? Memory flooded her mind of a shriveled Hakkadian sorcerer casting the deadly spell. She felt the rage pulse down to the hand that wielded the Ring of Galdora. She wanted the soldiers dead. If they disobeyed, they deserved to die. She couldn’t let the King kill Prince Jaraz. Her hands flourished in imitation of the hand movements, chants pouring from her parted lips. The guards took an uncertain step away from her, but as the power flooded through Sebine’s hands their eyes widened then clenched in horrific pain. A burst of blood gushed from their nostrils and ears and mouth as the men shit themselves and collapsed to the ground like tossed aside carcasses from the hunt.
