Project Main Details

The Sustainable Development Timeline SMALE
************************************ is an interactive web documentary that explores the major milestones of a major Asian International Institution.

Intended to be a knowledge product edited and narrated as a documentary, it will have a backbone made of motion graphics animations and a number of short mini-docs accessible by navigating the milestones on the timeline.

We are looking for young adult male and female voices (2 voices) with a standard American accent and one senior male voice (impersonator, to read memories of previous presidents).

We plan to begin recording the voices in early-mid February, and chances are that future addition recordings will be held throughout 2011.

Scattered across the great tapestry of the Asian and Pacific region are different peoples, landscapes, climates, customs and religions.

There are huge countries in it, like People's Republic of China and India, together with the tiny islands in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean.

Some boast dynamic economies. Other are still poor. And yet, there is a certain homogeneity about the region.

As the Japanese writer and philosopher Kazuko Okakura wrote, "Asia is one". The very birth and existence of the Bank symbolize that spirit of oneness and sense of common identity.

Economic development involves much more than just building physical infrastructure. People must be the basic ingredients. A rapid development of human resources is a necessary condition for sustaining economic growth.
The Bank has adopted a "50:50" project mix for all his public sector lending operations. This means that at least 50% of its projects will have social or environmental concerns as primary or secondary objectives.
The gradual emergence of Asian economies in the late 1970s spurred demand for better infrastructure to support economic growth.

"The successful economic development of Asia is contingent upon the wholehearted acceptance of change, the introduction of new technologies into traditional societies, the transformation from what may be termed 'prayer-inspired' production methods to scientifically-induced production."
