Script Details

First half of script:

There aren’t many trees in our neighborhood. Spook always say, like, only green ‘round here is in fools’ money clips or blunt papers and even then there ain’t much of it. Ma, when she isn’t nodding off, says Spook has no brains. But, anyway, the point is we don’t have many trees around here. So the star falling (I guess it must’ve fallen right?) into a tree, in our neighborhood, makes the whole situation that much weirder.
I saw it when I was walking to pick my kid brother up from school. I was picking him up, as usual, because Ma was on a date with a needle and Pops was (you guessed it) long gone. Kid got in another fight with some Mexican punk that called him a name. Don’t even know what the name was and it probably doesn’t matter—could’ve been calling him “sir” and kid would’ve gotten a fist in his face. Any excuse to fight, my brother takes it. Guess that happens when you got no one to show you another way.
Anyway, shoot, I was in the middle of more important stuff. I was walking and come by one of the, like, three trees in our neighborhood and I hear a squirrel or something in the branches above me. And just, you know, out of reflexes or whatever, I look up and there it is. Took me a minute to realize what I was looking at. It wasn’t so much bright as it was hot looking. It wasn’t too big, maybe like a beach ball or whatever, and it was like soldering, if that’s the word. And I don’t know what astronomists say, but, for real, after I looked at it for a while, it really did have the shape of the stars you see in coloring books and stuff, like with the five points and sparkling color. Not like real obvious points, but they were still there.
So I’m sitting there thinking because, first of all, it’s not everyday you see a star just chilling on Earth, right? Second, how did it fall from the sky, however far up, without even breaking that tree’s branches? I didn’t get it. I thought it must have been some kind of joke or something, so I shook my head and kept on walking.
