Project Main Details

The First Stock Car Race narrative for audio tour
This audio is for one stop of a Smartphone virtual tour of the Charlotte, NC area highlighting sites related to racing. This tour will allow individuals to download the application into their Smartphone (iPhone initially) and use the GPS capabilities to navigate between the tour sites.

Charlotte is known as the birthplace of NASCAR racing and has many sites related to this industry including the Charlotte Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, historical sites and the shops of many of the teams that compete in NASCAR racing. The initial tour will have 10 - 15 sites of which this will be one. The narrative will need to have a pleasant, engaging voice that appeals to the average American NASCAR fan. A slight Southern accent is preferred but not required. The audio needs to be broadcast quality so it will sound good through headphones, or the Smartphone's speakers.

Whoever is selected will be needed for the additional sites on the tour with the expectation that the rate would be the same for each site. All sites may not need narrative as I am working with some of the race teams who may provide the audio themselves.

Script Details

Full script.

Charlotte has a special place in the history of NASCAR. Over the years, no fewer than nine Charlotte-area tracks have hosted NASCAR's premier series, although only one – Charlotte Motor Speedway -- remains on the schedule.

Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the very first "strictly stock" car race sanctioned by The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). The race was held on June 19, 1949.

NASCAR was founded in 1948 in Daytona, FL and held their first modified race with half the course actually on the beach. However, the founder of the organization, Bill France Sr., saw a growing potential for a "strictly stock" series and decided to have a "cup series" of races in 1949 beginning here in Charlotte, NC. ....
