Script Details

***Sample script provided for auditions.
(sick) I don’t feel very well – what happened?

(mature scientist) This is what happens when you don’t take precautions. You are still young and reckless.
You see, I‘ve spent many years in a lab.

Many of my friends have given their lives so that man can assess the toxicity of chemical substances.
Laboratory staff can easily become contaminated with the products they handle.

And once the products are absorbed, they can trigger physiological problems of varying severity.

Several parameters are taken into account when establishing the toxicity level of chemical substances.
Let me tell you about my life as a lab rat so that you can understand what's happening to you.

Hydrogen sulfide or Hydrogen sulphide is a secondary irritant gas.

It penetrates via the airways and causes cell anoxia.
It can be detected at very low doses by its rotten-egg smell. At higher concentrations, however, it paralyses the olfactory nerve, which is why it is so dangerous.
But that’s another story, which I will go into later...

The second category is called “asphyxiating gases” and is also divided into 2 groups: simple asphyxiating agents and chemical asphyxiating agents.

Both groups trigger Oxygen deficiency but don't have a direct effect on respiratory function.

Simple asphyxiating gases such as Nitrogen are physiologically inert.

Do you know of any others frequently used in labs?
