VO: Today’s average mobile phone is more powerful than the PCs that sent two astronauts to the moon in 1969.

VO: Right in the palm of our hands, we have the ability to research, connect and share with anyone in the world.

VO: In fact, there are over 1.5 billion smartphones throughout the world and 40 percent of our internet time is on those smartphones.

VO: There are over 2 million apps at Google Play and Apple’s App Store, but 65 percent of shoppers still say they prefer a mobile site over the app.

VO: Despite that, Facebook is the top ranked smartphone app—reaching over 74 percent of the app audience.

VO: Today, Facebook has over 1 billion users, with LinkedIn and Twitter following behind (on screen: LinkedIn: 259 million, Twitter: 232 million)

VO: At any given moment, 54 percent of users will discover mobile ads via an application. 40 percent will discover them on search engines, 27 percent on retailer websites and 23 percent on a video website.

VO: Still, search is the most common starting point for mobile research.

VO: 48 percent of mobile users will start on a search engine and 33 percent will start on a branded website.

VO: Men and women are equal, too. They will each spend a little over four hours a day searching online with their mobile phone.

VO: But search isn’t just defined by a mobile device.

VO: 93 percent of all online experiences begin with a search engine—with Google owning up to 70 percent of the search engine market share.

VO: But here’s the rub: 75 percent of users never scroll past the first page of results.

VO: Despite that, search is still the number one driver of traffic to content sites—beating social media by more than 300 percent.

VO: In fact, SEO leads have a 14.6 percent close rate, while outbound leads such as direct mail or print advertising have a 1.7 percent close rate.
