Script Details

Sample scripts::

Al Lopez narrator: At age 16, Lopez quit school to play for the Tampa Smokers. From 1928, when he starting playing with the Brooklyn Robins to 1947, when he ending with the Cleveland Indians, Lopez set the record for the number of games caught by a catcher that stood for nearly 50 years. When he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977, he was the first person with Tampa roots.

Eddie Flynn narrator: These Spalding boxing gloves brought Eddie Flynn success at the 1932 Olympics. He had to fight five times in five days. The Tampa Morning Tribune banner headline from August 14, 1932, proudly announced “Ed Flynn Wins Olympic Welter Titles.” He was the first Floridian to win an Olympic gold medal.

Lee Roy Selmon narrator: Despite missing six games to injury, Selmon was named the team’s most valuable player as well as its rookie of the year. Beginning in 1979, Selmon went to the first of his six straight Pro Bowl’s and became the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year for leading the Bucs to within one game of the Super Bowl. He continued to dominate his position until a back injury prematurely ended his career with the Buccaneers after the 1984 season.

Character voice for Eddie Flynn: “I’m getting sick of putting on gloves and hitting some fellow in the face when I’ve got nothing against him. I wouldn’t want that to be my job for life.

Character voice for promoter Floyd Golden about Eddie Flynn: “He had a left hand like a windmill. When he hit you with it, he could follow up 20 times”
