DO NOT APPLY IF YOU CANNOT DO ONE OF THOSE.
Youthful, excited and connected to the passion of the story, an actor more than a promo/commercial guy, less hard sell - more emotional. Narrator: Glen was a teenager when he left home to look for work.
He rode the rails from town to town, doing whatever job he could find...
…until he came to his Aunt Mary’s bakery, where his passion for food became the dream of a lifetime.
He wanted to own his own food stand.
This was a big dream for a kid who had grown up wearing clothes made of Cement sacks.
But before he could even begin...
World War II did.
Glen enlisted in the Marines. Where others saw difficulty, Glen saw opportunity. He volunteered for kitchen duty where he learned about food ordering and menu portioning.
What had seemed like a detour on the road to his dream ended up being a major advantage.
But Glen didn’t know that yet.
After surviving the depression and a war, he had to find a way to get back to his dream.
It happened while sitting in the parking lot of a McDonald’s. Of course, this was the very first McDonald’s, back when carhops brought your food out to you. And it was here that Glen had this crazy idea...
Wouldn’t it be better if you could just walk up to the counter and get your own order?
Sounds like a no-brainer, right? But no one was doing it back then... so Glen took most of his money... and opened his first restaurant.
He was only 25, but he had thrown himself so fully and so passionately into his dream... it was coming true.
And Southern Californian’s were eating it up!
See, Glen’s restaurant wasn’t the only one taking off. California was becoming the birthplace of the fast food revolution.
