Script Details
The cohousing concept was brought to the United States by the husband and wife architectural team of Charles Durrett and Kathryn McCamant. The book they published on cohousing in 1988 caught the attention of developers and homeowners seeking a new approach to neighborhood design.
Over the next ten minutes we will visit cohousing developments in MA, CO and CA, which used environmentally advanced designs and materials. We will also meet the developers of these projects. They will be covering a wide range of issues including financing models, the unique role of the developer, and how to work effectively with future resident groups.
