Project Main Details
The project is an "industrial video". It's a short 3 minute piece that will be played on the web and in perhaps in grocery stores. It tells a short story about social sustainability in spinach farming. The emotional feel of the piece is that farming is an oft-forgotten industry where low consumer prices often result in poor living and health conditions for migrant farm workers. We highlight one farm that is bucking that trend and offering a high standard of living for it's workers while still providing a quality product at a low cost. While the underlying goal is to instill confidence in the product and get people to buy this brand of spinach, the overall feeling is one of inspiration and goodwill.
The voice should be aspirational and slightly uplifting- matter of fact and "common". Not salesy or preachy. We are looking to audition Non-Union men and women speaking plain english without accents. 2010-04-02 16:23:56 GMT 2010-07-30 16:00:00 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. But what do we truly know about our food? Where does it come from? Who are the people who grow and produce it?
And what are the hidden costs to these people and our world?
The truth is that producing the food we eat everyday is the most dangerous job in America and one of the most dangerous in the world.
The life expectancy of a farm worker is 25 YEARS below the national average.
Every year, over 300,000 farm workers suffer from toxic pesticide poisoning each year.
Farm workers also have the lowest wages in the country
And some of the lowest education levels - with a median education level of sixth grade.
Many view this reality as the cost of low priced food. But what if behind the food we eat everyday there was a story of hope and opportunity – instead of despair there was possibility?
This series takes a close look at every step of the process from the farm to your family to highlight opportunities for incredible change.
This is the secret life of frozen spinach.
