Spartan Race
Obstacle Course Racing
Play by Play Live Sports Commentary

*Read as if you are calling a live racing event. With some emotion, but not too over the top.

Men’s Race - Play by Play Commentator
-We’ve got a huge crowd on hand today for the first running of this Spartan Race short track course.

-We’ve seen lot of these Spartan’s before, but it will be interesting to see how each one adapts to this condensed course.

-These guys are some of the best all-around athletes in the world.

-And it’s game on for the Spartan Speed Course? They are off!

-John Yatsko takes a quick lead. Just hurdling right over those first walls.
(pronounced “Yacht- skOh”)

-Hunter Mcintyre is right behind him. And Atkins in a close 3rd.

-The first big obstacle is the A Frame Cargo Net. Some of these guys can get up and over this in record speed.

-And Yatsko has about a 10ft lead, but it is very close.

-And they are into the Barbed Wire. And Atkins is flying through with no care for his body.

-And Atkins just hit the barbed wire, you can see it bouncing up and down!

-These obstacles can be both grueling and painful

-Isaiah takes the lead at the 6ft wall.

-I can’t imagine these leaders keeping up this intense pace.

-And Atkins moves into Second.

-Into the log carry and Isaiah handling that log as if it weighs half of what it does

-The Hercules Hoist! These sand bags weigh as much as some of the competitors!

-Yatsko still holding onto that third position, but Hunter Mcintyre is now making his move on the lead group.

-He’s into the water … his technique now making up for some of the speed that he lacks.

-Atkins is the first to reach the spear throw… he throws… and.. Sticks it!

-Isaiah throws…and he misses!

-That’s a 10 Burpee penalty! (pronounced Burpy)
-he’s probably faster at doing Burpees than any other competitor out here today.

-Hunter has taken the lead and is distancing himself from the rest of the pack.

-He is flying down this course!

-…and Isaiah in second, but right on his heels.

-Hunter is Off the A frame and back into the Barbed Wire.

-and he has just lapped another racer!

-Isaiah in second! And he clears the barbed wire.

-And John Yatsko is not far behind but fighting for that final podium position.

-the crowd is feeling this. And they know the end is near.

-Hunter is successfully across the bars and into his final spear throw.

-he just needs to stick this spear and the $4000 will be his… And…He MISSES!!

-and it’s 10 burpees!

-Its neck and neck!

-He is right on his heels!

-These guys have to be exhausted!

-this is where stamina is really going to make a difference.

-Who can get through these bars fastest?

-Isaiah has been struggling on these all day.
-The rest of the pack is right behind him…And he Down!

-if Hunter can get through these Burpees, I think he’ll still take it.

-Atkins steps up with his spear, but will it be in time.

-The crowd is counting. And Hunter Mcintyre is done.

-And we have ourselves a winner!

-What a finish! One of the tighter races we’ve seen in a while.

-His combination of Speed, Strength and strategy really was what gave him the edge on this short, fast course.

-And His father is there to greet him at the finish line.

-And just like the Spartan Men’s heat, we’ve assembled 14 Elite

Women’s Play by Play - Commentator
-We’ve got the ladies’ start.. And they are off!

-and there is a bottleneck at these first 2 walls.

-They are starting at an incredibly fast pace for this early in the race.

-the women’s race kicks off with all the excitement and drama of the men’s race.

-Both Cassidy and Carly are stadium race specialists, so they should have a distinct advantage.

These are some of the toughest and well rounded athletes on the planet.. and it shows as they take on each obstacle exhibiting speed, strength, skill, and endurance.

They fight past pain, exhaustion, and each other throughout the race.

They fight through, pain, confusion, and adversity for the chance to emerge victorious.

-The fastest woman today is a distance runner.
-The woman with the most speed may take it today!

-Orla is looking very strong.
-that 80lb log is not slowing her down a bit.

She’s going over the wall like that to save energy.

-She’s right on her tail.
-she’s pulling away here at the end.
And she is snagged on the barbed wire!

April Dee has missed the wall!!!
Tyanne is down!!

-Cassidy is on a great pace and close to running away with it.

-Rose is struggling on that Log Carry.

-If Cassidy can nail this, I don’t think anyone can catch her.

-The spear throw for the win and $4000 in the first Spartan Speed Course!
-And She’s done it! We have our women’s winner!

We have our winner! Cassidy Watton in first! And Carla in second!

The top competitors will take home the prize money, the honors, and most importantly, they will advance to the next episode and move one step closer to taking it all, in the Spartan Speed Course Finale.
