Not formal or "announcer-y."
Very natural and casual. Approachable, yet still retains a quasi-authoritative tone. Friendly, but not forced. MALE SCE AUDITION:
VO: Each SCE customer is unique. However, they generally fit into one of six distinct segments. By understanding what these segments are about as people and what motivates them, you’ll be better equipped to treat customers the way they want to be treated. And empowered to communicate to them in the most effective ways.
We’ve drawn upon our most recent research with these customer segments to imagine a typical person that might fall into each segment…
VO: Meet Sandra Martinez. She’s 32, married to her high school sweetheart; and the two have a young son — who loves jumping on the couch!
Sandra thinks SCE is doing a good job, but honestly couldn’t tell you much more than that. She doesn’t really think about SCE often. Or what we offer.
Family is everything to this segment. So, it’s important for Sandra to set the right example on things like energy-efficiency for her son; and, to be seen as a good mother and community member. But, she really doesn’t know where to start?
The key is showing her how to embark on a smart energy lifestyle — and then making it easy for her. Show her the basics of what SCE is doing and, in turn, what we can do for her. Likewise, help her see that action can lead to positive recognition from her community and family.
Start a conversation. Speak to her like a neighbor, not a corporation. She hates when things are formal or too hard to understand, so give her simple solutions. Appeal to her via community and family. Consider using the internet as a strong vehicle for engaging her.
So, let’s recap the Aspiring Conservationist:
Make it easy, and she’ll make it her responsibility.
•Show her the basics of what SCE is doing, and what she can do.
•Speak to her like a neighbor or friend.
•Engage through family and community. Make her the hero of these groups.
•Offer simple solutions.
