Project Main Details
First please listen to this sample audio: ******************************************
I like the expression the lady gives and the way she reads it. I am just looking for someone with a richer voice. This is a mood book, I want the listener to be transported from whereever they are onto a nice sandy beach. I want them to leave as if they have had a wonderful experience.
Sound calm, quiet, soft, soothing, observative. Sound like you just woke up (but you aren't tired) and you're ready for a new, wonderful day at the beach.
Sound excited! It's time for fun! Sound happy, observative, joyful, thrilled. It's an awesome day at the beach with perfect weather! Listen carefully to the youtube video I posted, she did a great job here.
Sound subdued. Sound calm, reflective, and relaxed. You're walking the pier today to toss breadcrumbs to the seagulls.
Sound alert! Sound cautious (but not scared), alert, and wide eyed. The sky is full of dark rain clouds, thunder is rumbling! It's windy and raining hard. Picture what a child thinks of this, and read from that emotion.
Sound dreamy. Sound imaginative, and dreamy, calm, relaxed, artistic, and fun. Sound like you are a young child observing all of the wonderful dreamlike colors of a beautiful sunset over the ocean.
Sound reflective. Sound fun, observative, reflective, introspective. You're ending the day at the beach, but you're not tired yet. There's still fun to be had listening to a live band.
SOUND EFFECTS AND MUSIC
This is OPTIONAL but desired. If you can't provide soundeffects or music don't worry about it. If you are providing music, make sure it is appropriate for the time of beach it is playing at. Sound effects can include: ocean waves, seagull sounds, pigeon sounds, people having fun in the background, thunder rumbling, waves crashing, wind blowing, etc.
Don't overwhelm with sounds if you choose to use them. Just make sure they support the story and they support your reading. As a note, I like new age music like Enya, I like bossa nova and samba, and I like music like Sade ("Love is Stronger than Pride") So consider using those types of music as inspiration if you choose to add music.
Overall, have fun and sound like you are reading from the perspective of a young, wide-eyed child enjoying the beach. Do not exaggerate, please! Sound sincere.

Sometimes the beach is quiet. The morning sky brightens slowly from the east. The air is cool, and smells fresh and salty. Only the sounds of flying birds and the ocean tide can be heard. Pigeons line the sandy walkways looking for food. Tiny seashells rest in the cool beach sand. Soon the sun will rise, bringing light to the leafy palm trees.
Mom gives us oatmeal and apple slices for breakfast. I put on my cap and get ready to play.
Sometimes the beach is sunny! Soft clouds glide through the bright blue sky. The ocean sparkles in the sun. Light waves splash against the seashore, washing the sand to and fro. Dry sand is warm and cozy; wet sand squishes between my toes! Palm trees shade us from the sun, and sometimes a gentle breeze brushes against my face.
Mom helps me put on my swimming gear and sun block so I can play in the ocean...barefoot!
Sometimes, the beach is cloudy. The taste of salt fills the cool misty air. The bright sun hides in the thick white clouds, and sometimes it peeks out for a while. Ocean waves crash up against the rocks. Dry sand is cool now, wet sand is cold! A soft wind rustles the palm tree leaves. Seagulls glide gracefully through the air.
My shadow looks faded and hard to find. "No swimming this time", says Mom, "we'll walk the pier today."
I toss breadcrumbs to the seagulls. They swoop down and gobble them up!
Sometimes the beach is stormy! Dark grey clouds cover the sky. The sound of thunder rumbles in the distance. Palm trees bend in the rushing wind. Sea mist flies through the air. Raindrops fall from the clouds above and waves crash hard against the shore. All the sand is wet now.
A news man bravely stands and reports on the weather. Seaweed washes up on the beach. Sometimes lightning flashes!
