(Read by soothing, yet encouragingly enthusiastic Bob Ross-type.)
Now anyone can become a virtual Picasso or Renoir through the miracle of sleep learning. You don’t even have to tell anyone you became an oil painting prodigy in your sleep. When people ask where you went to art school, just tell them you went to a small, highly selective immersion program in Europe. They’ll get the picture.
To begin, change your bottom sheet out for a drop canvas. It may feel a little uncomfortable and cause some chaffing, but suffering is an important step in becoming a great artist. Now, get your brushes lined up on your pillow next to you in order of thick to thin, and your paints laid out in a nice Roy G. Biv formation. If you have a spouse or significant other, it’s best that they sleep on the couch for this particular lesson. Replace their spot with a wood frame canvas. Now lay back, relax, and let your unconsciousness do all the work.
We’ll start with an idyllic sheepherding scene. Pick up your medium bristle brush and try some nice, green rolling hills. Make sure you keep your wrists loose and free as you paint these. Whoops! Not too loose. Luckily the beauty of oil painting allows us to turn mistakes, like turning your entire sky green, into a whimsical aurora borealis with just a little white paint.
Next we can add in the sheep. We’ll make ten. Count them as you paint. This will help you remain in a deep sleep, oblivious to the smell of paint around you. Use your fan brush and say “puff, puff, puff” as you dance across the canvas. There, happy sheep with nice wool coats.
