"Did you know Sickle Cell Disorder is inherited from both parents. It mostly, but not exclusively, effects people from Africa and the Carribean. One hundred and seventy thousand males and females have the Sickle Cell trait. Approximately twelve thousand five hundred males and females have a Sickle Cell disorder. Over two hundred babies with the Sickle Cell disorder are born every year. A simple blood test will tell whether you have Sickle Cell trait or the disorder.
