United States, Texas,
Latino communities often lack initiatives for safer after school physical activity.
An agreement with the city allowed Thomas Edison High School to make a change, and share their track with the surrounding Latino community.
But the track didn’t have any programming to motivate the community to use it. Brianna had an idea to make a change.
Brianna's experience as a student Ambassador for health, taught her different ways to get involved.
For their idea of a regular school and community walk on the track after school hours, coach urged Brianna to talk with the school principal.
With the groundwork set, Brianna started mobilizing support from community agencies, health groups and worked with school officials to recruit students to participate.
The first walk was a big success.
Walk with the Principal Night program has become a tradition at Thomas Edison High School and the surrounding community.
