Wednesday 15 Very pleasant this morning. The sun shines out fine. We burned the hill over, had good luck. Bettie went up to see a sick child. I was at home all day.
Thursday, April 16, 1863 We burned off the prairie in the bend in the afternoon, bought six steers off Shafer then came to town. I stayed all night at Watsons.
Wednesday April 22 I went down to Shelenbargers and got his steers and two of the Allen steers. In the afternoon I helped herd at night. We burned some of the prairie on the bottom.
