Serving in Bible Translation
This piece an artistic video that is intended to outline and reinforce the reality that no matter what a person's skill may be it can be used in the cause of Bible Translation. As far as tone/interp. of the read, what we are looking for is what I would term "understated passion." It should have a hopeful, inviting tone and not be overly dry or somber. However, this is not a radio / TV ad so please don't over-hype it either. The voice in this commercial is similar to the feel we are looking for but your read does not need to be a carbon copy: ********************************************************************* (about 30 seconds in).

You must submit at least a partial read of the script below to be considered. This is a rough script that will see revision before the final recording. However, length will not change significantly. Thank you in advance for your audition!

When people think of Bible translation, many picture a scholarly missionary working all alone in a remote village.
Perhaps you think there isn’t a place for you in a ministry like that. Maybe it seems too academic, too scientific, too isolated. That’s not your personality at all. And besides, without years of Bible school and language training, you’d never qualify.
But the reality of modern Bible translation is quite different: there’s a place for everyone!
Each Bible translation project requires a huge team of people—some overseas and some right here at home. And there are lots of roles you may not expect.
There are teachers for missionary kids; pilots, mechanics, and boat captains to get everyone where they need to go; IT specialists to keep things working efficiently; and people in finance to help manage resources responsibly.
Then there are the language surveyors, the literacy workers, the administrators, the attorneys, the nurses, the communicators, the carpenters, the cartographers. . . . There are thousands of roles, and every person on the team is critical to Bible translation.
Today there are still more than one hundred and eighty million people waiting to hear God speak—waiting to experience His Word in their own heart language. They need more than just Bible translators—they need teams. They need you.
As each person shares their skills and abilities—however common they may seem—something wonderful happens. More Bibles get translated. More people meet Jesus. More lives are transformed. And at the end of the day, that’s what Bible translation is all about—reaching people with the Good News of the Gospel in a language they can clearly understand.
We can complete the picture. We can reach every person on earth with the hope of God’s Word. But we have to work together.
You don’t have to be good with languages. You don’t have to have Bible training. You just have to be willing to let God use you, just the way He created you. There is a place for you in Bible translation—a place for you on the team. Let’s find it together.
