Project Main Details

Seeking voice talent for a museum project
Documentary company seeks voice talent for a museum project that focuses on the Civil War era and the aftermath of the war.

If you’ve watched or heard Ken Burns’ Civil War documentary, you have a sense of the style of delivery: honest, conversational, not overly dramatic or showy but warm and full of emotion, paying attention to the language and where emphasis should fall in each sentence, letting the words breath, and making it sound as if the person speaking is across the room or even inside one’s head.

A few short videos require a narrator, and we would like someone who can provide a natural, convincing (and non-commercial) style.

You must be able to record and deliver professional quality reads. A sample excerpt to record is below. The videos are short (3-5 minutes) and depending on the number of lines, we are offering $200-250/video.

If interested, please submit a sample by Friday Sept. 21.

Script Details

A few short videos require a narrator, and we would like someone who can provide a natural, convincing (and non-commercial) style.
Early summer, 1863. General Robert E. Lee has decided to launch an invasion. Another major victory could disrupt the Union’s military plans and compel President Lincoln to negotiate.

As Lee’s army moves north, Union forces respond. Now close to 160,000 men are converging for a massive battle.

Each side seeks a spot that will yield an advantage. The enemies move toward a small, thriving town at the center of five well-traveled roads--Gettysburg.

The Union sends ahead Brigadier General John Buford and his cavalry division. Once in Gettysburg, Buford realizes that holding the high ground will be crucial.

His men, outnumbered 4 to 1, must delay the Confederate advance until the infantry reaches town. Buford and his signal officer view their surroundings from the Seminary’s cupola.

He has decided to make a stand here.
