Part One: Defining and Understanding Diversity
Consider this: Hispanics are the fastest growing population in the United States – a community expected to reach a total population size of more than 60 million by the year 2020. Today, the disability community consists of more than 56 million Americans, accounting for one-fifth of the U.S. population. More than 15 million Asian Americans represent nearly 5% of the total population and more than 16 million adult Americans identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. By 2050, seniors age 65 and older will make up 21% of the total population. By the end of this year, the U.S. workforce will be 34% non-white, and minorities and women already make up 75% of all entry-level talent.
