“Star in the Forest” Audition Sides
(Tentative Rec Date: Oct. 24)
[Voice type: Female, Early Teens. We would like you to give us a few different reads, if possible.] (Narrator) *Please do not read the section in parentheses. Text is provided only for the description.
Zitlally spotted a large white dog chained to one of the cars in the junk-yard she called “the forest” behind the trailer park.
She noticed a black spot shaped like a star in his fur. Star. Star in the forest.
(Zitlally was also “star” because Zitlally meant star in the Aztec language. As her ancient ancestors did, she believed you are connected to an animal spirit when you are born. Zitlally knew that this dog was connected to her father who was sent back to Mexico.)
Zitlally knew her father would return, even after he was kidnapped
when trying to get back home. Star was there to let her know:
he WOULD return.
Find out what it’s like to believe in, Star in the Forest.
