Project Main Details

Reading an old letter for a historical documentary
The year is 1934. The United States is in the midst of the great depression. Two days ago your husband died of a heart attack on Christmas morning, leaving yourself to care for your two girls. You're a a reasonably well educated, elegant middle aged woman. This is the text of an actual letter written to your now-dead husband's brother explaining what has happened.

The right voice actor for this role will not be overly melodramatic, but still sorrowful, and aware that she is delivering terrible news. Keep in mind that the way in which we talk has changed since the 1930s.

Later in the letter (not included in the short script preview), she goes on to talk about her hopes for the future.

The name of her husband, Eustasio, is pronounced "You-stass-io."

December twenty eighth, nineteen thirty four.

Dear Victor,

My sorrow is exceedingly great in having to tell you that I have just lain in his last resting place my beloved husband and your dear brother. Eustasio died suddenly of an acute heart attack. I think he suffered very little if any.
