Audition Script – NARRATOR
Before we help Liz get through her Quit Day, let me introduce myself.
Welcome to Quit IT. I’ll be your guide in the journey to learn more about coping tools, and how to use them effectively to reach your goals.
We’ve kept this as simple as we could, so let’s get started.
First, you’ll see in the upper left that we have our Goal and Progress meter. As we progress through this Tutorial, you will notice that the blue fill bar moves along, showing you how much of the scene you have been through, and how close you are to completing the goal. In this case your goal is simply to complete the Tutorial.
When the blue bar has filled the progress meter, you win that scene.
Now what is keeping you from winning? Essentially, two things: smoking Triggers, and the Urge to Smoke. The Urge to Smoke is shown in the gauge above me.
Let’s say I get bad news in an email…notice that the meter goes up? Perhaps my initial reaction to this bad news is the thought that a cigarette would feel so good right now, it would fix all your problems. That temptation would also drive the gauge higher. If the meter reaches the end, I slip up and have a cigarette. You can prevent that from happening by using the right coping tools to reduce, eliminate or avoid Triggers.
Here we see the most powerful Triggers affecting me now. The more red dots, the stronger the Trigger, and the more effect that Trigger has on the Urge meter.
