Project Main Details
I am a student that really enjoys well made audio pieces. Have you heard This American Life and Radio Lab?
Well, some pieces on This American Life often give me goosebumps and bring me close to tears as the music and text and the delivery are just spot on and are able to convey so much in a matter of few minutes.
I am working on a small artsy audio piece of my own. It involves music, ambient/environment sounds and text read by 5 different voices.
Without overwhelming you with unrelated information, the audio piece will provide a small glimpse into the thoughts and challenges and reality of a single man from birth to death.
Audience: limited online distribution. I will offer the complete piece as a free download on a website. I guess the bulk of the audience will be likely young tech savvy liberals, podcast aficionados and spoken words fans, hipsters. Will be more than glad to give you credit if you wish.
How the finished product will sound:
1. A male child. Age 4 - 6. (I know I can't expect much at such an early age, but hoping to find someone that can pronounce sentences clear while still maintaining a child like demeanor). 58 words to be read.
Giddy, warm, friendly, child like, curious, light hearted, quirky, bright, young
2. A male teenager. Age 12-16. 73 words. (Vibrant and energetic voice full of teenager zest and angst)
Friendly, confident, light hearted, engaging, clear, bright, young, hip, excited (3)
3. A male at the age of 20-30. 105 words. (getting comfortable and secure with life, fresh dad)
Warm, friendly, compassionate, soothing, confident, concerned, serious, mature, upscale, classy, good diction.
4. A male at the age of 50-60. 155 words. (angry, divorced, substance abuse, regret)
Concerned, dry, authoritative, dead serious, good diction, depressed, angry, regretful, raging
5. A male at the age of 70-90. 109 words. (Death and Regret are the main motif. Hopefully I can find someone that can sound sick and broken. Sounding like he is on his death bed).
Weak, broken, serious, emotionless, dying, sick, thoughtful, scared, huffing and puffing, long pauses, in pain
Voices I enjoyed:
Here are some voices I enjoyed and the vibe I am trying to get. Obviously not applicable to the young voice actors but hopefully it will set the tone for the piece, which is, overall dead serious and somewhat depressing.
Voice, and the pauses totally make this piece for me. Yeah, those are commercials, but who cares. They are beautiful and artfully made and the voice over really shines.
Post production: None needed. I dabbled with home recording before and as long as I receive a good quality recording with your performance I will be able to edit and manipulate it by myself.
Payment: Although this is going to be little hobby project and I don't expect to earn a nickel back, I want and willing to spend money to create something close to exactly how I envision it. My budget is pretty slim, at $75 per actor. In any form you want. Paypal is cool.
After I examine your submissions, I will pick a single reader for each “age part”. I can front half of the money if you wish before you record it for real. I would want to have multiple versions of the same text (speed, style, velocity, pauses-no pauses) as this will allow me to mesh it all together from bits and pieces during the editing phase. 2013-01-22 18:46:13 GMT 2013-02-05 18:00:00 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far.
