Project Main Details
The main goal is to highlight the importance of visiting the Port Falmouth premises and venturing out to learn about Jamaica. We need to tell our guests that RCL developed this port in a strategic location adjacent to a historic town; and encourage them to visit the port retail center and restaurants, walk into town, take a trolley tour or go on an organized tour. 2015-02-27 16:05:14 GMT 2015-03-05 12:04:45 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed - Note: This project was manually closed by the voice seeker before it reached its original deadline. 5 5 2 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 2 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. Founded in 1769, Falmouth flourished as the primary market center for sugar, coffee and rum in the Caribbean. Wealthy traders and plantation owners built fine Georgian-style homes and other buildings along the waterfront, but after years of neglect, most of these buildings have almost disappeared. Helping to preserve this architectural legacy, Royal Caribbean and the Port Authority of Jamaica collaborated to create a new cruise port adjacent to the town to bring attention to the town’s rich history. Royal Caribbean along with other organizations are supporting historians, international and local charities, and Jamaican authorities on restoration efforts.
The colonial-era style influenced the creation of Historic Falmouth Cruise Port, whose design reflects the patterns of early Jamaica. A great way to appreciate the original and “inspired by” 18th-century structures -- and to imagine life in Falmouth 200 years ago – is riding the port’s historic trolley or one of the horse-drawn buggies.
Centrally located midway between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, Falmouth is convenient to all kinds of adventures and explorations on Jamaica’s north coast. But there’s lots to see and do right here, whether you’re looking to spend a relaxing day in port or to extend your time ashore after an excursion.
Like duty-free shopping. The port is home to a variety of international boutiques as well as shops that specialize in made-in-Jamaica products and crafts as well as island fashions. Here you can stock up on the island’s famous Blue Mountain Coffee, buy a bottle of Appleton Rum, and watch artisans create unique souvenirs before your eyes.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Jamaica in port with live entertainment provided by steel-pan bands, dancers, stilt walkers and cultural performances that, depending on the school schedule, include a choir of local teens!
From a quick snack on the go or a relaxed, sit-down meal, the port has a selection of restaurants and eateries serving international fare and local specialties such as Jamaican patties and the spicy seasonings of jerk-style barbecue.
You can keep your cool with a fruit smoothie, a refreshing fresh coconut water, an ice-cold Red Stripe beer. Delicious cocktails and much more are on the menus at both the Rum Factory and Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville.
Margaritaville also welcomes day visitors to its pool, with its swim-up bar, replica of the Dunn’s River Falls cascades, and swashbuckling surprises.
However you spend your day in Jamaica, our friends in Falmouth look forward to welcoming you ashore.
