Project Main Details
Our player character, Philip, has journeyed into a research base deep beneath the Greenland snow, looking for his father, a world class linguist. The research base was installed by a shady organisation which seeks to find and secure alien evidence on earth – his father worked for them. One year ago, and alien virus infected most of the staff on the base – the virus is sentient, and operates as a hive mind. Most humans have been killed or converted, and only a few survive by the time Philip arrives. Philip becomes infected, and is contacted by a Dr Swanson, who is trapped in another part of the base, but has information on a cure.
Name: Dr. Richard Eminiss
Sex: male
Accent: Well spoken, slightly out of touch English (feel free to adopt any accent you feel appropriate) doctor – gone mad. He sounds as if he’s struggling with the words, as if he’s trying very hard to get them in the right order.
Age: 53
Eminiss is a minor character, with only two sets of dialogue. He is a doctor of medicine, and a survivor (just) of infection. When the humans were forced to retreat, and secure themselves in the canteen area, Eminiss and was among them. During that time, a number of survivors were hurt or infected, and they were the doctor’s responsibility. According to the protocol on the base, the infected must be secured before the infection takes hold, and, if infection continues, they must be destroyed – this, too, has been the doctor’s responsibility.
After trying to escape, the doctor becomes infected, and, realising this, he leaves the others, and locks himself away in a computer room. As the infection takes hold, the doctor suffers a strange side effect – he begins to recall everything he has ever experienced. His memory repairs itself, and he remembers his birth, every patient he ever killed... everything. It doesn’t stop here: the virus has records of every event in human history, and the doctor suddenly gains access to all of this information as well. This sends him completely mad.
When Philip meets the doctor, he has secured himself, and cannot be seen through a door. Philip requires the doctor to open a palm scanner door, but the doctor will not come with him. The doctor agrees to saw off his arm, so that the player can open the door, but, as he is about to do so, the infection finally takes hold, and he instead tries to kill Philip.
