Script Details

note: **************************

Please read a sample of the script.
It's terribly difficult to remember all of your passwords, especially with them having to change every 30 or 90 days. ***** mandates that passwords are changed every 90 days. This is mostly to keep the passwords confidential. However, frequent password changes actually weaken the overall security as users attempt to use easier to remember passwords that are less secure.

The most secure passwords are ones that combine alpha numeric, numeric, special characters, and mixed upper and lower cases. The password 'tooth gal' is pretty insecure as it relies on dictionary words. However, if the letters are substituted for numbers, cases are mixed, and special characters added, this password becomes secure.

Why is it secure? Hackers use many methods of obtaining passwords. There are educated attacks, dictionary attacks, and brute force attacks. Educated attacks try to guess your password based on your information. Such as using your anniversary date, birth date, kids' birthdays, spouse's name, dog's name, etc. Dictionary attacks try to make your password with every word in the alphabet and then through different combinations of words. Brute force attacks try every combination of letter, number, and special character. Brute force attacks can take days if not months to complete.

So how do you keep your password secure? Always use secure passwords and never tell anyone else your password (not even IT staff).
