What if we lived in a world where instead of throwing out your trash and putting it on the curb, you walked two blocks and left it on a stranger’s porch? No explanation. Just let them deal with it. Ridiculous, right?
Well, it’s happening right here in the state of Pennsylvania.
But we’re not talking about putting harmless pizza boxes, trash bags, and recyclables on your neighbor’s porch. We’re talking about sexual predators – teachers, coaches, and administrators – accused of sexually molesting or abusing students who are allowed to resign from their job, sometimes with a glowing letter of recommendation in hand, and transfer to an unsuspecting school district down the street where they often continue preying upon innocent kids and ruining lives.
This is the hidden and despicable practice of “Passing the Trash.”
Could this happen at your child’s school? Has it already? Turns your stomach, right? It should. That’s why Senator Anthony H. Williams is leading the charge to right this wrong.
The S.E.S.A.M.E Act, Stop Educator Sexual Abuse, Misconduct, and Exploitation, will end this by stopping predators from leaving one school and entering another school district.
This act will enforce hiring schools to conduct a thorough background check to learn if any prospective employee has ever been involved in a sexual abuse investigation.
It’ll stop the incentives to resign and transfer to another school rather than face discipline for their disgusting behavior. It’ll stop putting our kids in danger.
This isn’t a public vs. private school debate. It’s not even a debate. It’s our children’s safety. End of discussion. We need to stop sexual predators from ever getting the chance to move from one school to another. Stop them from preying on more unsuspecting children. Stop them from taking the innocence and youth of the children they hurt with their heinous acts. These cowards are trash and shouldn’t be near a classroom. Let’s stop making it another school district’s problem. Let’s make sure our kids are in a safe learning environment. Stop passing the trash and start throwing it out!
The S.E.S.A.M.E Act, Stop Educator Sexual Abuse, Misconduct, and Exploitation, will end this by stopping predators from leaving one school district and entering another.
This is about our children's safety.
Passing the Trash may seem like an easy way out of a bad situation but denying the victims of these crimes justice by passing the perpetuators along to another district is immoral and a crime in itself. What's worse is when it's your child's school who gets the trash from another school district. This can put your kids in serious danger.
