Version TWO – October 31, 2012

Welcome to beautiful Santa Cruz California. It’s a great October day with plenty of sunshine here on the boardwalk as we’re gathered for the 2012 Pizza My Heart Pizza Olympics.

Teams have gathered from Pizza My Heart restaurants across the region and for the first time ever will be competing on the main stage at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk in one of four categories:

Box Folding
Pizza Tossing (longest duration)
Pizza Tossing (biggest size)
Freestyle Acrobatics

Let’s meet some of the team members.

The first event is Box Folding

The winner was XXX from XXX (Allison is getting me the names)

The second event was pizza tossing to create the largest diameter Pizza. Contestants could stretch and toss the pizza, even use the wind to help make it bigger, but a hole in the dough larger than a dime disqualified the contestant. Celebrity judges Wingnut and Grandma Judy helped measure the entries.

The winner was XXX from XXX (Allison is getting me the names)

The third event was longest tossing. Contestants had to toss pizza dough over their hard, never letting it get lower than their shoulders. This wasn’t easy in windy conditions. The one who kept the pizza in the air the longest was the winner.

The winner was XXX from XXX (Allison is getting me the names)
The final event was freestyle pizza Acrobatics. Contestants could do anything with dough to WOW and entertain the crowd.

Wind on the stage provided some challenge, but there were some amazing performances that set the audience on fire and ended up earning some amazing scores from the celebrity judges which included Wingnut, local legend Lex, and Santa Cruz Boardwalk marketing maestro Kim.

Wow, a perfect 10 from all three judges with that fiery performance.

Congratulations to the winners from each contest will be joining The Big Cheese and all restaurant managers at the international pizza convention in Las Vegas next March, and to everyone for being here and participating

We look forward to welcoming you to the Pizza My Heart Pizza Olympics in 2013. Until then keep folding, tossing and dreaming big.
