Project Main Details
We can afford US$100 per minute recorded, with additional $25 per quarter minute recorded. In other words, if the voiceover is exactly 3 minutes, we pay US$300. If the voiceover is 3 minutes plus another amount up to 15 seconds, we pay US$325.
We'd like to keep it under US$400. I don't think we have enough text for 4 minutes, anyway.
We are looking for a 35+ year old female voice, rich in tone and depth.
This is a fundraising video, so the voiceover has to breathe a bit of comforting maturity, as well as professional trustworthiness. People who hold the purse strings of great big bank accounts have to believe this voiceover artist - and what she is telling them - and want to give money to the Resthome because they believe her so much. Basically, we're looking for a woman's voice which will deliver a certain dynamic empathy, while still commanding the respect of a mature male voice.
I know - it's a tall order!
This voiceover will require you to pronounce 4 different Finnish names. I have MP3 audio recordings of each name that I will send to the hired voiceover artist, to guide them in accurate pronunciations. They are really very easy to pronounce, so it's not much of a big deal - but the pronunciations do have to be accurate.
Since the Resthome is a nonprofit, we are not getting paid for the job until the editing is complete and the project has been delivered (they don't have a lot of disposable cash). We are a very small production company without a huge bank account, so you will have to get paid when we get paid. We just don't have the money to cover it until they pay us.
[We have always worked with Voice 123 artists getting paid at the end of the job, and if you want references from other Voiceover artists I have hired in the past (who will assure you that I pay as quickly as possible), I can provide them.]
Seriously, I pay as soon as I can because I know we all need our money, right?
I expect that we will receive payment from the client approximately 1.5 - 2 months after the voiceover is finished (that's accounting for their internal payment processing time). Possibly sooner. So I expect you will be paid around that time, too. If you cannot agree to being paid when the project is finished, then please don't bother applying for the job.
I'm really looking forward to the auditions - good luck to all of you!
Oh, and any auditions that are really great but are not chosen by the client, I put in my own "favorite voiceover artists" and I invite them to all of my upcoming projects.
Please prepare you audition using the complete text provided for your reading. I will only hire someone if I get a good understanding of what their whole reading will be like, which is why I ask for auditions of the text that we have prepared, rather than you just submitting your standard audition reel. I'm all prepared to listening to your submitted reel too - in addition to the auditioned text that I've provided.
"Sault Ste. Marie" - "soo-saint-marie"
"Suomi Eesti Maja" - "soo-oh-mee eh-stee my-yah"
I'm going to try to attach an audio MP3 file with the pronunciation of Suomi Eesti Maja for you, but I'm not sure if it will work. If not, then just follow the pronunciation guide I've written above.
And don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have!

The text I've submitted for auditions contains a Finnish name of a building which is hard to pronounce. The following mp4 can be downloaded for right pronunciation:
****************************************************** ****************************************, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, is a non-profit charitable organization that offers exceptional facilities and superior levels of care to its residents. We are comprised of three buildings situated on beautiful grounds in close proximity of one another.
Our main goal is to provide services to our residents that will help them to reach and then maintain an optimum level of functioning and to maximize their quality of life on a daily basis. True to our “Homes with a Heart” logo, every resident is treated with care, compassion and respect. We ensure that each resident is treated as an individual whose unique needs are being met and who can feel comfortable in their chosen home.
Phase One or Suomi Eesti Maja, is our seniors’ independent living facility offering privacy, security and maintenance within a clean, friendly and safe environment. Along with its pleasant atmosphere, its amenities include a sauna, exercise room, woodworking room, crafts room, games room and much more. Residents of Suomi Eesti Maja enjoy a secure living environment, with many social supports and activities designed to enhance their quality of life.
