Project Main Details

No City for Dreaming
I am seeking a William Holden voice-over for a book trailer we are promoting. The trailer will be a kind of homage to the famous beginning to "Sunset Boulevard" where a dead Holden lies in a swimming pool and begins a voice-over narration that sets the film up. Holden's voice is wry, sarcastic and twisted with self-loathing - and yet thoroughly entertaining - like a good screenwriter making his best pitch.

Script Details

Holden's voice is wry, sarcastic and twisted with self-loathing - and yet thoroughly entertaining - like a good screenwriter making his best pitch.
"The shot reads: INT. MARILYN'S BEDROOM NIGHT ... because that's where the story is supposed to end. Struggling writer, famous movie star...That's right - the naked lady with her hand stretched out like she's reaching for the phone to call help, that's Marilyn Monroe. She's dead. Not sure about the kid. But how these two ended up here like this - August 5, 1962...well now - that's gonna be qui1te a story.

The kid's name is Lou Beach, nice enough fellow, from a good family in Pasadena. Grandfather started L.A.'s oldest brokeerage firm. Family would like him in the business.

But the kid's got the bug, the Hollywood bug, and he's had it bad now for about seven years. Wants to be a screenwriter...
