Thank you for calling acme corporation, please listen to the menu before making your selection; if you know the extension of the party you are trying to reach, you may enter it at any time. Press 1 to dial by name, press 2 for accounts receivable, press 3 for customer service or press 0 for the operator.

Brad calls 0

Operator: Thank you for calling acme corporation, this is Lucy, how may I help you?
Caller: Yes, I am trying to reach john from IT, can you please transfer me to his extension?
Operator: certainly, I will transfer you to extension 5295.

4. John y Brad talking

John: Hey Brad what’s up, how’s the family?
Brad: everything’s ok, thank you for asking. I need a favor from you, I want to get a proposal on the discussed network maintenance service your company offers.
John: OK Brad not a problem, but Arnold is the right person for you to talk to.
Brad: excellent, thank you. Can you give me his phone number?
John: even better Brad, I will transfer the call right away, hold on, don’t hang up.
Brad: thank you very much

John looks at his cell phone and enters: **6 (Call Jump). Arnold picks up the phone at his desk (cisco ip phone) and Brad’s call is transferred:

Arnold: this is Arnold, how may I help you?
Brad: hey Arnold, this is Brad, John told me you can help me with a proposal
Arnold: certainly my friend, not a problem, but first, may I ask you who was your sales engineer?
Brad: Phil took care of it, should I call him and then get back with you?
Arnold: no way Brad, just stay on the line an I will conference Phil in and we will get this sorted out right away.

Phil, Arnold and Brad talking

Phil: Hey Arnold, how are you?
Arnold: All good Phil. I have Brad on conference and wanted to discuss with you the details for his proposal
Phil: Hey Brad, how can I help you?
Brad: Phil, I would like to get a proposal on the service we discussed, Arnold just needs some information in order to proceed. Could you please tell him which option is the one we are going for?
Phil: hey Arnold, Brad requires design improvement for System B, please go ahead and send him the proposal. Anything else you need from me?
Arnold: no, that’s it, thank you.

Phil hangs up the phone but Brad and Arnold are still on the phone.

Brad: ok Arnold we got it, one last thing, can you please transfer me to Juan, I promised I will take him out to lunch, I owe him.
Arnold: oops. He is always on the go so I will transfer directly to his mobile phone.

Arnold opens up his web portal again and clicks on directory > personal and searches for “first name: Juan” and gets his mobile number. He opens up the voiss assistant again, inputs the extension number on the space provided and starts an announced transfer:

Arnold: Brad, got it, I will transfer the call, hold on.
Brad: thanks.

Arnold starts transfer process through web portal and Juan picks up:

Juan: Hello, this is Juan
Arnold: hey Juan what’s up, listen, I’ve got Brad on the other line and wants to speak to you and I have him on hold, are you busy? Do you want me to transfer him to your voicemail instead?
Juan: no Arnold, transfer him I want to talk to him
Arnold: ok Juan, talk to you later

Juan y Brad talk

Arnold hangs up his cisco ip phone and the call gets transferred:

Juan: hey Brad how are you?
Brad: all good Juan, just wanted to call you to invite you to lunch as promised; are you free today?
Juan: actually Brad, I just had my sandwich and chips, you know I’m not much of a restaurant person.
Brad: that’s a shame, there’s this new great place, Sugar Cane, you will love it. How about tomorrow, come on
Juan: that sounds like a plan, I will meet you there at 12.45PM. I am going to transfer this call to my voicemail so you can leave me directions for the place, I am driving right now and don’t want to have a car accident.
Brad: excellent, I will explain detail how to get there, is very simple.

Juan looks at his mobile phone dial pad and dials **2 and the call is transferred to his voicemail. Brad leaves a voicemail for Juan:

Brad: ok, the place is behind midtown at 32nd ave and 1st street, call me if anything comes up.


Juan suddenly looks at his blackberry and realizes he has a new voicemail delivered to his email. The email can read “Voicemail from Brad Pitt 708-354-7493”. He plays back the voicemail message by clicking on “open attachment” and the voicemail is played back.

Brad is thinking but you hear the thoughts.

Brad suddenly starts thinking: wow, that phone system Acme Corporation has is amazing, I just realized I spoke to different people, got transferred from mobile phones, left voicemail messages and all on a single call? That is incredible, I wouldn’t do business with any other vendor, this company really wants my business. actually, I will have to ask them if the know about a good solution for a telephone system that has call center features but won’t break the bank.
