Script Details
I’ve lived in this area my entire life, but if you would have told me at 18 that I’d still be here at 38, I would have called you crazy. If you told me I’d be a rancher’s wife, I’m not sure what I would have called you. Dad worked in the steel business. I went to A&M to study music and met my husband there. When his father asked him to take over the ranch, we both felt it was a great opportunity. I’ve always loved the lifestyle, horses and the people. It’s a wonderful area for raising a family. I just never expected it.
From the beginning, I was involved with running the ranch, but when the kids started school, I got much more involved. I keep the books and make sure we have what we need. But not a week goes by that I’m not out there on
a horse. At three o’clock I become mom again. I pick up the kids at school and take them to dance or soccer. I’ve always loved to ride and I join events at our local equestrian center as much as I can. That’s the time I set aside for myself.
My office has a mud floor and livestock so I don’t need work outfits like some other women. But I’m not like my mother-in-law. I think she wore the same dress to my daughter’s grammar school graduation that she wore to our wedding. At least they looked the same. I don’t consider myself trendy, but a big part of my day is off the ranch.
I spend my day in jeans, usually Wranglers for work, but not always. They’re about the best when you work on a ranch. They stay on the rest of the day if they haven’t gotten dirty. We wear them when we ride for fun too Portion of the script provided for audition purposes only:
