Project Main Details

Need English reads with developing country accent
This spot will feature eight or ten different people--a mix of male and female representatives from developing countries. They'll be reading one line each.

It's a somewhat slow, somber, reflective read. And it should sound like a normal, everyday person, not a voiceover artist or broadcast voice.

The read should be a little more on the side of a poignant "just the facts" rather than a dramatic, emotional read.

There's some emotion, certainly, but more than that, the pacing & phrasing gives it it's power.

Script Details

I have attached an MP3 sample of the entire script read with an African accent. This is the tempo and pacing that we're looking for. Notice the emphasis is "In MY country . . ." but not "in my COUNTRY . . ."

These are samples of the sentences we'll be using. Please choose a sentence that is appropriate to your accent (or the situation that someone with that accent might be in):

In my country, our government doesn’t exist to serve its people. We live in constant fear of what they'll do next.

Here, human waste mixes with our water supply. Cholera outbreaks are rampant—and deadly.

We don't let our children play outside for fear that they’ll be maimed or killed by landmines.

Without teachers or resources, it can be hard to find the kind of training needed to break the cycle of poverty.

Food here is so scarce, our children are malnourished. At times, it seems that finding the next meal is the only thing that matters.

Here in my country, young women are taken in the night and sold as sex slaves, never to be seen by their families again.

Persecution of believers has forced our church underground. When we meet, we risk imprisonment. Or worse.

In my county, terrorists visit orphanages to recruit their next generation of suicide bombers.

Our country’s leaders placate the population with myths about deadly diseases--resulting in even more deaths.

The lack of education is evident by the decay in our economy.

The decisions of our corrupt leaders are almost never in the best interest of our communities.

Here, there's a never-ending threat of violence. We hear gun shots every night. Our people are in despair.
