Project Main Details
THIS IS A STUDENT RADIO-DRAMA, NO PAY
DATES: Rehearsal is Thursday, November 13 and the Recording is Friday, November 14.
NEED: 6 actors
LOGLINE: 3 friends in their mid-twenties are living in a rundown apartment in New York City. Robert, the narrator, lives with his friends Tom and Jared. When Tom, the only one with a job, gets fired, he persuades the group to travel to California, to go see the San Diego Comic-Con, which they have all wanted to see their entire lives. They leave everything behind, and go on a journey to San Diego. Once they reach Comic-Con, each goes on their own journey, dealing with their own problems and trying to overcome them. At the end, after running out of Comic-Con, they all decide that the accomplishment of actually getting to Comic-Con was the greatest accomplishment they had ever achieved, and decide to
start their new lives in San Diego.
Tom (20-25): Tom's main characteristic is his confidence in himself. Slightly egotistical, he is the driving force in the group, and has considerable influence over the others. He is also the most likely to spaz out over the smallest thing, and his quick temper and his bouncy attitude make him very unpredictable. He loves Star Wars, but has a crippling issue with Star Wars The Phantom Menace, and responds violently whenever he hears or sees Jar-Jar Binks. His will and strength are the guiding forces of the group, and that is why he is the self-appointed leader of the group.
His voice should be somewhat high, with a confident air to it.
Jared (20-25): The most laid back member of the group, Jared would love to be a ladies man, but is actually incapable of speaking to women without making a videogame reference or implying something that gets him slapped. What he lacks in social grace, however, he makes up for with his knowledge and skill with electronics and videogames. Jared talks with a smooth style, which may be a part of his laid back style.
His voice should be lower, but with a slightly nerdy twinge to it.
Robert (20-25): The main character and narrator, Robert is the most sane member of the group. He is the one with the most normal outlook at his life and dislikes how crazy his friends are. And yet, because they will stick with him no matter what, Robert stays with his friends. Robert wants to become a graphic artist, and works hard on his art, but doesn't want to release it because he is greatly afraid of being rejected. His art is the one thing that he takes pride in, and hates to hear anyone criticize it. His slightly depressed view of his life comes from the lack of success that he and his friends have had.
His voice should be the most clear and straight forward voice, since he is the narrator.
Comic Book Artist: Male voice, uptight, and very conceeded. He is always looking down on other people's art.
Videogame Female (20-25): Female voice, up-beat, and is very kind. She is an expert on videogames.
Mexican Immigrants: About 3 people who speak fluent Spanish.
