All the work you do at GGS requires that you are constantly watching out for hazards in your work area and that you are constantly looking for things that may cause a safety problem. It is important that you know where the exit doors are located and the difference between the doors that lead outside of the building and which doors do not. Use caution when working around train tracks. Do not cross under, over, or between the train cars as the trains are subject to move without warning. We want you to be safe and avoid injuries. If your work requires you to be in or near the area of the Coal Pulverizers, watch for the red flashing warning lights. Operations personnel will turn on the red flashing warning lights for certain Pulverizer operations. Stay clear of this area when lights are illuminated and flashing. If you see a situation that you think can cause an injury, report that information to your supervisor. As you do your work, we want you to set a good example and to follow the rules. Most importantly, if you are assigned a work task and you have any question about what to do, stop that work, talk to your supervisor, get the correct procedures or the correct instructions, and then proceed with the job only after you are comfortable that you can do the job safely. All injuries need to be reported. Report injuries to your supervisor; your supervisor will report them to the NPPD site representative. We need to know what type of injuries occur so we can look at preventive action. Our goal is to have a safe work environment and we need your help to (1) prevent injuries and (2) to report those injuries that do happen.
