In total we should have 3 boxes: The NGS-D200 unit, the rack mount and the SD card containing the PRO version license.
Let’s start with the ********. The box contains the power supply unit, one EU and one US power cord, the quick start guide and of course the ******** unit. Note that there is no USB cable provided in the box!
The unit is already configured with an SD card containing the LITE version of the license, even if the PRO licence was ordered. The first step is therefore to unpack the PRO license SD card and swap the SD card from the front side of the unit. The SD card will NEEDs to be inside the unit when it boots up.
Now let’s unpack the mounting rack box: It contains 2 power supply mounting brakets, mounting instructions, the rack mounting plate, 4 cable strips, a bag of philips-head screws and that’s it!
To secure the ******** inside the mounting plate, we first need to remove the 4 rubber feet which should be easy enough to do if you don’t bite your nails too much…
The ******** can be mounted with the front side towards the front, or towards the back, which is a little bit less beautiful but can be more convenient when access to cable connectors is frequently required. Doing so however makes the factory reset button more difficult to access.
Once the decision is taken, use the provided screws and secure the unit to the mounting plate. Insert the plate in the rack and secure it on both sides. Oh and as you have correctly noticed at this stage, the plate can host 2 units!
As the unit is not very deep, it may be tempting to optimize rack space by placing other devices towards the back side. We however recommend to keep this space available to avoid obstructing the air flow required for cooling the unit.
When installed with the back side at the front, the hole on the front side of the mounting plate can be used to route all cables towards the back to guarantee a clean and tidy rack environment.
This is also why power supply mounting brakets are supplied. At first it looks like the power supply fits exactly inside the bracket in the vertical position, and that it lacks just a small milimeter. Well in fact, it should be mounted horizontaly, and the holes which are visible here, are foreseen to guide the cable straps, so that the power supply can be secured on both sides. The last step is then to install it and secure it at the back side of the rack.
Now we have a splendid rack mounting plate equipped with 2 ******** back side and front side facing.
Note that the units can become rather hot during operation, and due to the small depth of the unit, it may be tempting to install other equipment at the back side, inside the rack.
To guarantee good airflow, we need to ensure that space at the back is kept free, and also to avoid stacking multiple units directly on top of each other.
Thank you for watching!
