SFX: [Classroom lecture – teacher is a bit off mic with a classroom type verb ambience]

TEACHER: We’ve found that certain activities like playing a musical instrument, improve our cognitive and mathematical functioning, helping us recognize patterns and solve problems

TOMMY: [Daydreaming – on mic to himself] …my problem is meeting girls

TEACHER: Playing music can delay the onset of Alzheimer’s…

TOMMY: [Daydreaming] I really like what’s-her-name?

TEACHER: …help you learn how to be a team player, and develop patience…

TOMMY: [Daydreaming] When can I get out of here and meet some girls!

TEACHER: …and people that play an instrument generally do better in school and have more success in life…

TOMMY: [Daydreaming] Success with girls? That’s it! I’ll learn to play.

ANNCR: The benefits of learning to play a musical instrument are many and varied. Research has found that teens see music as their “social glue.” Music builds acceptance and tolerance for people of different ages and cultural backgrounds. Adults who play an instrument—even if it’s just for fun—are able to reduce their stress and use the activity as an emotional outlet, reducing their chances of job “burnout.”
TOMMY: And, of course, there’s you’ll meet girls....
TEACHER: Seriously??
TOMMY: What?
ANNCR: Whatever your reasons. Just play.
ANNCR: Brought to you by the ***************.
