Project Main Details
Our ideal narrator is female, has experience with museum audio guides (or at least documentaries), has a warm, interesting and intelligent voice, and can work efficiently. We are NOT looking for radio announcer voices or "newsy"- sounding talent, or sales/commercial style voices. If you have a casual, authentic, warm tone, you could be a good match for us.
We are on an extremely tight timeline and are looking for someone who can complete the work (including recording and editing final WAV files) by Monday, March 28. We will select a narrator by no later than Wed, March 23.
Scope of work:
- Record narration based on script we will provide (studio patch desired but not required)
- Edit into individual WAV files corresponding to each "stop" of the tour script
- Send WAV files by March 28
- Do pickups as needed in early April
Please provide your project estimate along with your audition.

NARRATOR: The city of Venice, Italy is famous for its glass – a tradition dating back to the Renaissance. But when Chihuly calls these wild forms his “Venetians,” he’s referring to something he saw one particular day, while visiting a palace in Venice. What he saw were Art Deco glass pieces from the 1920s and 1930s – a type he had never seen before. They became a springboard for a whole new way of working. A creative jumping-off point.
DALE CHIHULY: It became a creative series, totally unlike anything I’d ever done. For example, The Venetian series, I started about 20 years ago. And have come back to them several times. Each time I revisit the series I bring something new to it. [2:59] Here at the MFA, there’s a room of Venetians, these are larger than they’ve been before, and they’re also mirrored on the inside.
NARRATOR: For the Venetians, Chihuly makes much more specific drawings than he does for his other series. You can see how Chihuly’s drawings in this room relate to the Venetians. Drawing and glassblowing are both ancient and traditional art forms, of course… but Chihuly has completely invented his own processes for doing both.
