Motor Convoy ZD119575
This is a student project for a branded content class in an advertising school. The client we chose is Tesla motors (electric car). The idea is to interest listeners with some little-known US history that is sponsored by Tesla but doesn't mention the company. The historical events celebrate innovation and motivate listeners to try something new. The audience is upper income working men and women. These podcast ads are 1-2 minutes long, with sound effects we can add. In this script about the first motor convoy to cross the US, the point is that we overcame great obstacles as a nation to build our modern transportation system. Listeners are invited to dream about what else we could do in the future.

This younger man would have a bit of an accent: could be southern or eastern US, but in either case not terribly noticeable.

It’s 1919 and you’re a colonel in the U.S. Army. You’re going across the country with the first transcontinental motor convoy. That means you’re the first military men to go from D.C. to San Francisco in motorized vehicles. You’re checking to see how smoothly troops can cross the country in these new things.
In the end it takes you 62 days to complete your mission. You damage and have to rebuild 88 wooden bridges. You travel mostly on dirt roads from Illinois to Nevada. Your vehicles break down repeatedly. These are normal road conditions in 1919.
