This script will be used to tell a cinematic story. Each story will feature "ken burns" style photos and videos representing the script. The voice should be a great storyteller. Story should be told very dramatically emphasizing all the action unfolding within. I want to feel how engaged you are as the storyteller. The victories should feel triumphant and the tragedies should be disastrous. The soundtrack will be film score that directly matches the tone and feel of the script and voice. It will also feature subtle sound effects supporting the story.

In nineteen fifteen, Robert Gilmour LeTourneau was struggling. With an entrepreneurial spirit he had started a car dealership a few years prior but after it’s failure he was getting buried under a pile of debt. Just as the bills were threatening to overwhelm RG, he found a small opportunity leveling land. As the manual labor finally began to put a dent in his debt, RG realized he had found his sweet spot. He enjoyed the work but was frustrated by how manually moving earth by hand made the construction process slow and expensive. He knew there had to be a better way.

Even though RG only had a sixth grade education, he began inventing machines that could move greater and greater amounts of dirt, which in turn, made construction cheaper and more efficient. Eventually he was able to pay off all his debt and take on bigger projects as a contractor.

Very early in his business, RG felt led to do more for God. He thought that to be completely committed to Christ, you had to be a pastor or missionary. Finally, his pastor changed RG’s life by convincing him that God needs businessmen too. After that simple revelation, RG committed his business to God and to growing the kingdom.

Just a short twelve years later, RG’s business started growing exponentially when it changed from construction projects to the production and sales of his own earth moving equipment. RG’s natural engineering genius and innovative designs actually kept his business growing through the Great Depression. His equipment also made a huge contribution to the excavation and construction of the massive Hoover Dam, helping to complete it two years early in nineteen thirty six.

Eventually, RG opened manufacturing plants around the world, supplying equipment that helped rebuild the infrastructure of many war-torn countries.

Considering his business to be a partnership with God, early on, RG decided to give ninety percent of his profits to the kingdom, only keeping ten percent for himself. RG often joked about not being able to “out give” God. He said, “I shovel it out and God shovels it right back. But God has a bigger shovel.”

Soon after World War two ended, RG and his wife Evelyn founded a small Christian technical school in Longview, Texas. Like all of RG’s projects, the school has grown steadily over the years, and today is known as LeTourneau University with an enrollment of over three thousand students. It offers degrees in engineering, aeronautics, business, and education - all from a biblical perspective. He also founded a Christian camp that over the years has seen many, many professions of faith through its biblical teaching and programs.

RG was doing everything he could for the Kingdom until the day he died in nineteen sixty nine. He was without a doubt, “God’s Businessman.”
