Nick Graham decided to fix this. Even though he was only seventeen years old, he just couldn’t stand by while his hometown suffered.
He bought the vacant mom and pop grocery store and immediately began turning a profit. Soon after, Nick actually started a food distribution business that now grosses a hundred thousand dollars a week providing bulk shipments to other small stores in the area. And Nick also became the youngest grocery chain owner when he went on to purchase several more grocery stores in small towns like Truman.
Nick obviously has a keen business sense and an entrepreneurial spirit but one thing that all the newspaper articles and TV reports seem to miss is Nick’s dedication to saving money. He actually bought the grocery store in Truman with ten thousand dollars he saved from simply doing odd jobs.
As a boy he grew up working hard on a farm in rural Minnesota and saved every penny he could. Instead of just cutting lawns like most teenage boys for extra money Nick actually started a lawn cutting business. He found all the customers and then hired his friends to do the mowing.
Those early business’ taught him the value of saving. Even now, as a successful young businessman, Nick avoids any kind of unnecessary spending, which he says has helped him immensely. Often, while he’s setting up a store he has recently purchased, he’ll sleep on the concrete floor in the back room to avoid spending money on a hotel. He even bought his home for four thousand dollars, drives a ninety-eight Ford Expedition with two hundred and fifty thousand miles on it and doesn’t own a tv.
It would have been easy for Nick to live it up a little, since every business he’s started has been a success, but he continues to live simply and save money.
