Living Well with Congestive Heart Failure
What is Congestive heart failure? Congestive heart failure is a term we use to describe the inability of the heart to keep up its work load of pumping blood to the body.
Congestive heart failure is a life long disease. The heart doesn’t work the way it should. It holds onto water, causing swelling, weight gain and shortness of breath. But by making good lifestyle changes, you can live well and enjoy life.
It is important to know that heart failure does not mean that the heart suddenly stopped working or is about to stop working. And it does not mean you have had a heart attack. You can live a long time with heart failure. It is just a matter of knowing the signs and symptoms and making the right choices to stay well.
There are 7 key things you can do to feel well and stay out of the hospital. First, take your medications exactly like you are supposed to. Weigh yourself every day. Go to the doctor when you are supposed to. Watch the salt in your diet. Exercise according to your doctor’s advice. Monitor your symptoms. Don’t drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or use caffeine. And monitor your symptoms. Let’s take a closer look at each of these.
First, you need to take your medications exactly as directed. Once you start your medications, it’s important that you never run out! You must always take your medications even if you feel well. The medications are the reason you feel well.
