Project Main Details
The spots have the feel of an old-time radio adventure serial. A Hero and Sidekick team spend time between big adventures helping contemporary folks discover that the library is now about more than books. By taking the part of one of the citizens, you'll help The Captain and Paige in their mission.
If you have a wide range of voices, you are encouraged to demo multiple parts. We're looking for a voice talent that can bring fun and excitement to the part while catching the flavor of those old time radio serials. If you're that person, let us hear from you! 2012-03-30 15:01:57 GMT 2012-04-03 16:54:30 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed - Note: This project was manually closed by the voice seeker before it reached its original deadline. 0 0 0 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. ANNOUNCER: Stop brushing your bicuspids! It's time for another exciting episode of The Adventures of Captain Bookman and his lovely assistant, Paige… brought to you by the Tuscarawas County Public Library!
PAIGE: We've saved the world again, Captain! How about a week in the Barbados?
CAPTAIN: I prefer my Antilles greater, Paige, but we'll discuss that in a minute. There's a young woman here who's openly weeping!
PAIGE: What's the matter?
MOTHER: My pre-schoolers are driving me crazy! It's hard to find new things to keep their little minds busy!
CAPTAIN: Have you tried to connect at the Tuscarawas County Public Library?
MOTHER: I don't have time to read a parenting book!
PAIGE: The library is more than books! It's about literacy and bonding with your children through stories and the magic of the written word!
CAPTAIN: They offer story times for families, and ones just for kids. Plus, when you need a break, there are grown-up book clubs you can join to enjoy great books and intelligent conversation with other adults!
MOTHER: Sounds great!
CAPTAIN: Anything else we can help with?
MOTHER: Can you help me with this diaper?
CAPTAIN: Whoa, look at the time! Must go!
PAIGE: Connect at the Tuscarawas County Public Library… it's more than books!
While each citizen character will have a number of different lines, two of them are always in response to the same two cues. CUE #1 is "What's the matter?" (or similar). CUE #2 is "Can we do anything else for you?" (or similar). For audition purposes, their responses are below.
CUE #1: I've been looking for a job and I don't seem to be getting anywhere.
CUE #2: Can I have your phone number?
Middle Aged Man
CUE #1: My daughter called me out of touch because I don't know who Justin is! I'm so mad I could burn her Justin pajamas!
CUE #2: Can you get my daughter to re-friend me on Facebook?
CUE #1: When I retired, I thought I could catch up on my reading. But I'm so busy snowbirding that I have no time to read!
CUE #2: Yes. Get off my lawn.
