Project Main Details
The voiceover needs to be authoritative yet emotional. But NOT overly dramatic. Natural and conversational and maybe a slight hint of Caribbean accent.
I have sent a portion of the script from several different areas so you can get a feel of the emotional flow of the piece. 2013-01-15 11:52:45 GMT 2013-01-18 17:00:00 (GMT -05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) Yes (click here to learn more about ) Closed 0 0 10 direct invitation(s) have been sent by the voice seeker resulting in 0 audition(s) and/or proposal(s) so far. Here in Haiti, a country low in natural resources, child malnutrition affects one in five.
(SOTS will be about the terrible conditions and how sick kids get)
NyLiaca (Nie-lee-ka) suffers from Kwashiorkor, (kwa- she-or-cor) a variant of malnutrition.
Traditionally difficult to treat, child malnutrition has confounded public health officials.
This is Salinor. (Sally-nor) He suffers from marasmus, (marass-mis) a form of malnutrition that makes him excessively thin. He is 15 months old and weighs just 8 pounds.
NARRATOR (becoming more authoritative)
In the early 2000s, pioneering research began to change the landscape of child malnutrition therapy.
Working in Africa, Drs. Mark Manary (Ma-nar-y) and Andre Briend (Bree-ond) showed that severely malnourished children could be saved by feeding them a kind fortified peanut butter. The new peanut butter-based treatment was named R-U-T-F, or Ready to Use Therapeutic Food. It is a “perfect food.”
And because it contains no water, R-U-T-F cannot spoil.
NARRATOR (Becoming more hopeful)
After several weeks, Nylaca (Nie-lee-ka) has begun to improve. And little Salinor has started to gain weight.
Incredibly, in 2012 the new MFK factory opened its doors and has the capacity to treat nearly 80,000 children a year.
MFK’s impact on malnutrition, employment and Haitian peanut farmers is nothing short of miraculous.
Now they are turning their capacity toward the development of new peanut products. A nutritious snack for school children and a mamba product for pregnant and lactating women.
NARRATOR (This is the final VO of the video - the end)
MFK. Healing. Building. Leveraging Knowledge. Saving Lives.
