Project Main Details

Likable young mom
We are looking for someone who sounds like a smart, educated, friendly and likable real mom who is sharing what she knows. Maybe young and cool, maybe something totally unexpected.

We are NOT looking for a voice that is too cold and distant, like a PBS narration, or a peppy, overly 'acted' voice, like a radio ad.

Each section of text will be included in a different part of the video, so sections don't have to flow together.

These are to be used in videos that help parents teach their children to read. We will be watching kids reading in between the voice over.

Test 1 (kinder sounds and words)
- At this age, kids start understanding that certain letters make certain sounds!

-By the end of the school year, they should be able to sound out unfamiliar words at their reading level..

- At this point, it would be weird if they didn’t stumble on a word now and again...What’s important is that they use the sounds they DO know.

- We adults often want to jump in and help, but kids at this age don’t always need help.

- They can self-correct when they make a mistake.

-By the end of the year your child should be able to:
Recognize the sounds in unfamiliar words
Recognize common letter blends
And, self-correct mistakes when reading

TEST 2 (1st grade, reading fluently)
When you're a first grader, reading fluently just means getting most of the words right without stumbling too often AND understanding basic punctuation..

Reading should sound a lot like speaking - with a few pauses and not too fast.

The key is comprehension! Kids should read smoothly enough (not too much stumbling) and fast enough (not too fast) that they understand everything they read.

So what should you look for by the end of the year?
Your fluent reader should be -
Reading the words correctly
Paying attention to periods and commas
And, reading a natural speak for their grade.
